Commissioned by one of our co-directors, this report by researchers at University of South Wales describes the results of pilot work on how local residents could be engaged in shaping how public services work in Ringland and Alway.
Conducted before the development of new facilities in the area, residents discuss how services could better support the communities' health and wellbeing, how the interface between residents and services could change and also identifies reflections for future engagement work likely to inform our and our partners' work into the future.
Grants and Funding
National Lottery 'Awards for all' grant
During early 2025 19 Hills CIC successfully applied for and was awarded £12,000 through 'The National Lottery Awards for All programme' to pilot a 6 month community engagement initiative. The funding enabled employment of a local young person as a Community Mobiliser.
Key focuses and activities included:
- Community engagement in the wards of Ringland and Alway.
- Development and delivery of community survey to understand local residents needs and aspirations.
- Organise and deliver successful summer fun-day in Ringland during August 2025.
National Lottery 'People and Places' grant
Following on from our last successful grant, the 19 Hills CIC is excited to announce that we have been awarded nearly £94,000 through the National Lottery 'People and Places' grant to deliver an 18 month coordinated programme of health and wellbeing sessions, creative projects, youth development opportunities, environmental engagement and community gatherings in the wards of Ringland and Alway. The team at 19 Hills CIC and newly appointed project manager will be starting this project in September 2026.
